Making Magnolia Home
Yvette of @making_magnolia_home transformed not 1, but 2 bathrooms in her family bungalow. Although the previous bathrooms were up to a good standard, devastatingly Yvette's husband had a serious car crash which left him with life changing injuries and the need for a much more accessible home. Read on to hear how Yvette created a beautiful, accessible family home.
"The primary goal of redesigning both the main bathroom and the little loo was to create fully accessible spaces for my husband, James, while maintaining a luxurious and cohesive aesthetic that complements the rest of our home. I designed both bathrooms to ensure they not only addressed the accessibility challenges identified in occupational health reports but also reflected our style and vision for a high-end, functional home."
The Main Bathroom
Bathroom No 1
"The original layout of the main bathroom presented numerous barriers to accessibility. The shower was unsafe due to a step, a slippery tray, and a door that awkwardly opened onto the toilet. Additionally, the proximity of the cabinetry made it difficult for James to maneuver safely."
Post Renovation
"The redesign resolved all these issues by creating a more open and accessible layout, incorporating subtle but effective accessibility features that blend seamlessly into the design. The result is a spacious, luxurious bathroom with stunning cabinetry that combines elegance and practicality."

"The little loo also required significant changes to ensure safety and functionality. Previously, it couldn’t accommodate a frame if needed, and the wall-hung vanity had become unstable, posing a risk as James relied on it for support."
